In this life, there are those things which we must believe God for, and then there are those things which have already been granted us, but we’ve just not yet come into their possession.
Gal 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. (KJV)
In verse nine, it is plainly stated that those who are “of faith” are already blessed. That is established. What is not necessarily established then, is the level of your faith. If the blessing is already granted, yet you still without, then the only remaining variable is your faith.
A good example of this is witnessed in the following account: Num 13:1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
The Lord clearly said that the land which they were to see was to be theirs; that decision was already made. Yet watch what happens amongst the men: Num 13:25 And they returned from searching of the land after forty days. Now skip to verse. 30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. 31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
They each received the covenant promise according to their faith, or lack thereof; Caleb and Joshua entered the Promised Land, while the others did not. (For more on this promise of God, see Ex. 3: 7-8, Ex. 3:17, Ex. 13:15, Ex. 33:3) . God promised it, and He cannot lie. It was part of their inheritance as children of God.
What can you believe God for? Search the scriptures, and stand on God promises! When you come to better understand the commitment and binding nature of “covenant”, you will more readily “expect” and receive of your God.
